195 Scientific Organisations Will Receive Grants for Equipment Upgrades

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation has announced the results of the selection for grants to be awarded to leading scientific organisations for equipment upgrades.

The equipment upgrade programme is aimed at developing the research infrastructure as part of the "Наука и университеты" ("Science and Universities") national project.

· In 2024, 195 scientific organisations will receive the grants for equipment upgrades for a total of approximately 11,3 billion RUB.

· Since 2019, 274 organisations from 45 regions have received the grants for a total of approximately 53 billion RUB.

The organisations submitted their plans for equipment upgrade, as well as justifications for the requests. The grant amounts were calculated according to several factors, including the organisation's line of research, its results, the level of technical equipment, and the number of researchers.

The largest grant amounts will be received by Moscow State University, the Lebedev Physical Institute, and the Kurchatov Institute. Large grants will also be received by twenty organisations from eleven regions of Russia.

Among the organisations to receive the grant is the Shemyakin-Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, one the leading scientific centres in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology. Its key objectives include the development and production of advanced biotechnical pharmaceuticals. The acquisition of new automated systems will allow new series of pharmaceuticals to be produced in accordance with the GMP standards, ensuring high-precision dosing and aseptic processing of pharmaceutical substances into sterilised containers produced in Russia.
