Pharmaceutical Ingredients Production Output in Russia Increased in 2022

According to the press service of Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, cited by TASS, the production output of active ingredients in Russia has increased by 24% in 2022 compared to the previous year.

Forty types of ingredients under international nonproprietary names were never produced in the Russian Federation before, with 17 of the ingredients intended for the vital and essential drugs.

It was noted earlier that the prices for a portion of imported pharmaceutical ingredients have increased by 40-100% in the first half of 2022, which is caused by the changes in logistics of procurement and the fluctuations of the exchange rate due to sanctions restrictions.

The ministry noted that chemical industry companies, receiving state support, are able to implement reagents and reaction intermediates production projects intended to meet the country's pharmaceutical industry's needs.
